HC Deb 17 December 1953 vol 522 c91W
86. Mr. Janner

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will encourage manufacturers of nylon stockings to make different leg lengths to each foot size, as such variation is essential in the interest of the export trade.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

While this is essentially a matter for the commercial judgment of the manufacturers themselves, I understand that some of them are at present making nylon stockings in several lengths for each foot size for both home and export trade. I am advised that our industry can meet the export demand and I know of no particular difficulty which would call for special action.
