HC Deb 17 December 1953 vol 522 c110W
118. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the Government's decision to adhere to the long establishment international recognition of the three-mile limit for territorial waters, he will arrange for the protection of British trawlers and crews while legally fishing outside the three-mile limit off any part of the coast of Iceland.

Mr. Nutting

Her Majesty's Government's policy is to seek to arrive at a mutually satisfactory settlement of the Icelandic dispute. I do not think that the action proposed by my hon. Friend would contribute to such a solution.
