HC Deb 17 December 1953 vol 522 c100W
105. Mr. Awbery

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what assistance the Civil Defence services gave to residents in Lincoln Street, Bristol, after an explosion there which caused in jury to several people and damage to many houses.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I am informed that the normal police, fire and welfare services of the local authority dealt comprehensively with the effects of the explosion and that it was therefore unnecessary to call upon the Civil Defence Corps on this occasion.
