HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 cc61-2W
81. Mr. Bullard

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will give the necessary consent to enable the British Broadcasting Corporation to proceed with the erection of a television station near Norwich, for which a site has already been selected.

Mr. Gammans

No decision has yet been taken as to the site, although the B.B.C. have one in view. It is too early to make a definite statement about coverage, but the Corporation expects the station to serve most of East Anglia not covered by the London station. As to work on construction and assembly of equipment, the Government have not yet authorised provision of a television station for East Anglia, but the position is being reviewed.
