HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 cc77-8W
Miss Burton

asked the Minister of Health what proportion of the sum of £625,000 notified to the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board in July, 1953, for the financing of schemes in the region during the financial year 1954–55 has now been allocated by the Board.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I have not yet received the Board's programme of capital works for 1954–55 showing how they propose to allocate this sum.

Miss Burton

asked the Minister of Health what schemes have been approved for grant by the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board during the financial year 1954–55; and what is the estimated cost of each.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to schemes financed outside the Board's allocation of £625,000. I have informed the Board that they may expect, subject to approval of the National Health Service estimates by the Government and by Parliament, to spend up to an additional £90,000 on mental health projects, but I cannot yet say what particular projects they wish to undertake.
