HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 cc53-4W
57. Mrs. Mann

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty why he has instructed that lodging allowances are not now payable to those who have been serving in the Royal Naval Armaments Depot, Beith, Ayrshire, since August, 1943; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. J. P. L. Thomas

To qualify for lodging allowance, a man must satisfy his Department that he and his family intend to be reunited near his place of work as soon as circumstances permit. It was found recently that a few men employed at the Royal Naval Armament Depot, Beith, did not fulfil this condition, and the allowance is, therefore, no longer payable to them.
