HC Deb 14 December 1953 vol 522 c5W
56. Mr. T. Brown

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he is aware that the increase of pension of 3s. per week, which men are entitled to if they continue at work after having attained the age of 65 years, is now being taken into consideration in assessing the amount of supplementary pensions by the National Assistance Boards; and whether he will advise the Board to reconsider this practice.

57. Mr. Finch

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will advise the National Assistance Board to disregard the increased pensions payable to men over 65 years of age, after they have worked for one year or more, when assessing their claims for supplementary pensions.

Mr. Peake

No. The National Assistance Act makes no provision for disregarding any part of a retirement pension, whether it is payable at the basic or at an increased rate.
