HC Deb 14 December 1953 vol 522 c8W
64. Mr. L. Thomas

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will give a direction to the British Electricity Authority, under Section 5 of the British Electricity Act, 1947, that they should make uniform charges for electricity to all area boards.

65. Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will give a direction to the British Electricity Authority, under Section 5 of the Electricity Act, 1947, that a uniform price should be charged to area boards for their electricity supplies.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

The charges to each area board vary according to the cost of the coal used in the generating stations in that area. My right hon. Friend is not prepared to direct that this practice should be altered.
