§ 109. Mr. Callaghanasked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many ships of British flag use amplitude modulation radio services, as compared with the 300 ships of United States flag now using frequency modulation services.
§ Mr. GammansAbout 500 British vessels are licensed to carry very high frequency amplitude modulated equipment. I understand that the corresponding figure for United States vessels of all types carrying frequency modulated equipment is in the region of 2,200.
§ 111. Mr. Ness Edwardsasked the Assistant Postmaster-General what report the Television Advisory Committee has made on the relative merits of frequency modulation and amplitude modulation (very high frequency); and if he will publish this report before the Postmaster-General makes a decision on the type of modulation to be adopted.
§ Mr. GammansMy noble Friend expects the Television Advisory Committee to report on this matter within the next week or so, and he will then consider the question of publication.
