§ 26. Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Food how the prices paid to producers by the egg packing stations, from April to November this year, have compared with those paid last year; and what reduction there has been in distributive margins consequent on the larger total supplies of eggs handled by wholesalers and retailers.
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeThe average price paid to producers by egg packing stations from April to November of this year is 4s. 4¼d. per dozen. This compares with 4s. 5d. a dozen for the corresponding period in 1952. Since eggs were decontrolled distributive margins have been entirely a matter for the trade.
