HC Deb 08 December 1953 vol 521 c212W
88. Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Labour what factors have caused the in crease of 597 in the number of unemployed persons in Sunderland.

Mr. Watkinson

The increase is mainly accounted for by a rise in the number of unemployed men in the shipbuilding and ship-repairing industry, and of unemployed women in the clothing industry.
