HC Deb 08 December 1953 vol 521 cc202-3W
63. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will give the names of the Kent Rent Tribunal; how long each has served on a rent tribunal; and why it was decided not to reappoint Mr. Dan Frankel as a member of the tribunal, in view of his record of service on rent tribunals in Kent and the fact that he is only 53 years of age.

Mr. Marples

The members of this tribunal are Mr. F. J. Earles, Mr. E. B. Hammond and Mrs. L. E. Fever. They have served on rent tribunals from 20th February, 1947, 1st May, 1953, and 24th June, 1949, respectively.

As to the last part of the Question, it is my right hon. Friend's duty to make such appointments as he, in the exercise of his responsibility, considers desirable and he acted accordingly in this case.

66. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many rent tribunals have been closed down since 1st January, 1952; and how many tribunals are scheduled for closing down in the future.

Mr. Marples

In 18 cases tribunals have been amalgamated. This is planned in one further case. The tribunals are now peripatetic.
