HC Deb 08 December 1953 vol 521 c222W
104. Mr. Paget

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in studying the typescript of the court-martial of Captain Griffiths, he will consider whether Captain Griffiths should be charged with the murder of the second African for whose murder he was arrested.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

The hon. and learned Member can be sure that, in studying the proceedings of this court-martial, every aspect of the case will be considered.

107. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for War what future assignment he proposes for Captain Griffiths, who was recently serving in Kenya.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

My right hon. Friend cannot say what further employment, if any, will be given to this officer until all the facts available, including the court-martial proceedings, have been studied.

108. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for War how far Captain Griffiths, now or recently serving in Kenya, is, or was then, in command of National Service men.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

This officer is not and, at the time of the incidents which led to his court-martial, was not in command of National Service other ranks. One National Service officer was serving under him at the time in question.
