HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 c162W
84. Mr. Robson Brown

asked the Minister of Health the reasons which prevent persons who subscribe to the National Health Scheme, but who for personal reasons desire to be treated as private patients, from obtaining medical prescriptions from their doctors under the provisions of the National Health Act.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

The National Health Service Act, 1946, provides for the supply of drugs and medicines only to persons receiving general medical services and general dental services under the Act.
