HC Deb 02 December 1953 vol 521 c135W
75. Mr. Gower

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many applications for telephones remain outstanding in the Whit church and Rhiwbina areas of Glamorganshire; and if he will state what progress is expected towards meeting requirements during the next year.

Mr. Gammans

Eight hundred and nine applications were outstanding at 30th September, 1953—513 less than a year ago, in spite of the fact that we have had 370 new applications during that time. Sixty-five applications were cancelled in the same period. During the past 12 months, some new local cables have been completed and we have connected up no less than 818 applicants. We shall, of course, do our best again next year.
