HL Deb 02 December 1953 vol 184 cc921-2WA
LORD HANKEY

asked Her Majesty's Government whether a suitable substitute has yet been found for the use of agene in flour for human or animal consumption, and whether they can yet name an approximate date when its use can be abandoned in accordance with the assurance given to the House by the Joint Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, on June 10, 1953.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE DUCHY OF LANCASTER (VISCOUNT WOOLTON)

Although good progress has been made in the investigations to which my noble friend the Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, referred in his speech in the House on June 10, they are not yet complete. It is hoped, however, that it will be possible to make a statement on them within the next three months or so.

House adjourned at six o'clock.
