HC Deb 02 December 1953 vol 521 cc136-7W
81. Mr. P. Morris

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will take steps to improve the reception of the Third Programme in South-West Wales by the provision of booster stations, or any other necessary machinery to achieve this purpose.

88. Mr. Grenfell

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he will give further consideration to the defective reception of Third Programme items in Swansea, Gower, Llanelly, Swansea Valley and West Wales generally, and the resulting inability of listeners to follow any of the programme; and whether he will consider the immediate installation of a booster at Swansea so that the Third Programme listeners in this area can get improved reception.

Mr. Gammans

The B.B.C. are not satisfied with the reception of the Third Programme in these areas and are studying ways of improving it. Shortage of wavelengths, however, limits the possibilities very severely.
