HC Deb 02 December 1953 vol 521 c146W
Mr. Maclay

asked the Minister of Supply if he will make a statement on the recent explosion at the Royal ordnance factory, Bishopton.

Mr. Sandys

I regret that an explosion occurred in a section of the nitro-glycerine plant at the Royal ordnance factory, Bishopton, at 3.20 a.m. on Wednesday, 25th November, in which three employees lost their lives and four were injured, two of them seriously. A court of inquiry under Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Explosives is now being held. I take this opportunity of expressing publicly my sympathy with the employees who were injured and the relatives of those who were killed.
