§ Mr. Gowerasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will take steps to ensure fuller consideration of applications from National Service men for compassionate leave or postings; and, in particular, if he will ensure that, whenever possible, two members of the same family shall not be required to perform their National or Reserve Service at the same time.
Mr. WardAll applications for compassionate leave or postings are considered with the utmost care and sympathy. The fact that two members of the same family might be performing National or Reserve Service at the same time would certainly be taken into account in deciding whether the circumstances as a whole justified the grant of compassionate leave or posting.
