HC Deb 30 April 1953 vol 514 cc113-4W
42. Mr. Reeves

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the increase in the number of part-time and full-time chaplains employed in the Health Service since 1949, involving an increased annual expenditure of approximately£250,000; and if he will give reasons for this increase.

Mr. Iain Macleod

There has been some increase since 1949 in the number of chaplains employed in the Health Service, but at nothing like the cost suggested by the hon. Member. I am writing to the hon. Member giving him a full explanation of the position.
