§ Mr. N. Macphersonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what arrangements have been made by Malta with other members of the Commonwealth, including the United Kingdom, in connection with the four-year migration scheme; and what proportion of the cost Her Majesty's Government is defraying.
§ Mr. LytteltonI am asking the Deputy Governor to inquire from the Government of Malta about arrangements with other members of the Commonwealth. As regards arrangements with the United Kingdom, I am still awaiting proposals from the Government of Malta for a four-year programme of emigration: two-82W thirds of the cost of this programme, up to £200,000 in any one year, will be borne by Her Majesty's Government when the scheme is agreed.
