HC Deb 23 April 1953 vol 514 cc70-1W
48. Mr. Hoy

asked the Minister of Labour if he will now make a statement on the employment of blind persons in Scotland; and on the appointment of a placements officer.

Sir W. Monckton

The conference to which my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary referred in his reply to the hon. Member on 24th March, decided that further information about the numbers of employable blind persons who are in need of employment was required before a decision could be made about the appointment of a placement officer. Inquiries are therefore to be made.
