HC Deb 23 April 1953 vol 514 c78W
71. Mr. Bottomley

asked the President of the Board of Trade what reply he proposes to make upon the offer made by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics delegate to the Economic Commission for Europe to further trade between our two countries.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

Officials representing the Governments of almost all the countries in both Western and Eastern Europe are currently re-examining, under the auspices of the Economic Commission for Europe, what possibilities there may be for increasing trade between them. Since this meeting is still in session, I am sure that the right hon. Member would not wish me to anticipate its conclusions.
