HC Deb 21 April 1953 vol 514 c40W
32. Mr. Pannell

asked the Secretary of State for War what part the Royal Engineers, Postal Section, are to be asked to play in the forthcoming Coronation; whether they are to be fitted out with blue dress uniforms, which they will be allowed to purchase themselves after the Coronation; and what expense is entailed in this operation

Mr. Head

Including both Regulars and Army Emergency Reserve, 4 officers and 59 other ranks will be on ceremonial duty on Coronation Day: of these, 14 will be in the Procession. They will wear No. 1 dress. The men will not be allowed to purchase their uniforms and there will be no special expense since the uniforms will be re-issued.
