HC Deb 21 April 1953 vol 514 cc51-6W
Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will state the amount of grant to highway authorities for road maintenance, improvement and new construction for each county of England, Scotland and Wales, for the year 1952–53 together with the estimated grant to such counties for the year 1953–54.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The desired information so far as practicable is given below. It is not possible so early in the financial year to give satisfactory estimates of grants to be made for major improvements and new construction. The figures for such grants relating to 1952–53 are for the total cost of the schemes, which may be spread over several years.
