HC Deb 15 April 1953 vol 514 cc10-1W
48. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that the only housing available for teachers in Aden has no water supply; and why the sum of £25,000 allocated for the building of houses for teachers has been reduced to £9,000, in view of the need for houses for teachers.

Mr. Lyttelton

Teachers occupy 26 Government houses in Aden, all supplied with water. Seventy teachers, for whom no Government quarters are available, have made their own arrangements for accommodation. The sum of £25,000 allocated for building houses for teachers has not been reduced.
