§ Mr. NuttingNo. Under Article 97 of the United Nations Charter the General Assembly can only appoint as Secretary-General a candidate recommended by the Security Council. The Security Council has recommended the name of Mr. Ham-marskjold of Sweden and, provided he accepts the nomination, no question of nominating other candidates will arise.
