HC Deb 02 April 1953 vol 513 c179W
61. Mr. P. Morris

asked the Minister of Education how far the Fleming Report of 1944 on Public and Private Schools is being implemented; what difficulties are being met; and what steps are being taken to overcome them.

Miss Horsbrugh

The recommendations of the Fleming Report relating to independent public schools have not been implemented. To some extent pupils are being assisted by L.E.As. to attend public boarding schools under the Scholarships and Other Benefits Regulations made under the Education Act, 1944. Under present financial circumstances, however, this practice is not widespread and cannot be expected to increase.
