Lucas-ToothThe Chairman of the Women's Voluntary Services has informed my right hon. and learned Friend that the gifts of clothing received for flood relief have been on so generous a scale that it will be possible to meet, from the best grade, all foreseeable needs for victims of the floods in this country and also to meet all foreseeable requests for help from Holland. After setting aside ample reserves, there will remain a substantial balance and the Women's Voluntary Services believe that it would be the wish of the donors that this balance should be used for the alleviation of real and serious distress wherever it is most urgent. It is, therefore, felt that the balance should be offered to agencies of the United Nations concerned with the relief of refugees and the necessary arrangements are accordingly being worked out.
