HC Deb 02 April 1953 vol 513 cc180-1W
Mr. Beswick

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that on the Gold Coast Cocoa Marketing Board there is no representative of the Co-operative Cocoa Marketing Societies although they market approximately one-fifth of the cocoa crop; if he will give the reasons for this lack of representation; and what steps are being taken to remedy it.

Mr. Lyttelton

Apart from certainex-officio members, the Board is composed of cocoa producers and men of general commercial experience. There is no provision in the Gold Coast Ordinance establishing the Board for any cocoa buyers, of whom the Co-operative Marketing Association is one. to be represented on it.
