HC Deb 01 April 1953 vol 513 c155W
74. Mr. Swingler

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many new telephones have been installed in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme since 30th September, 1952; how many applications are still outstanding; and what progress he expects to make in dealing with these applications in the next six months.

Mr. Gammans

385 telephones have been installed since the 30th September, 1952, and 380 applications are now outstanding. It is not possible to estimate the rate of provision in the coming months as this will depend largely on our ability to provide additional local cables.
