Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the total numbers of Nigerian palm oil mills in operation at the end of 1952; how many of these mills are either in course of construction or on order; how many of these are publicly owned, co-operatively owned, and in the hands of private enterprise, respectively; and what is the total capital value of the scheme.
§ Mr. LytteltonSeventy-eight mills were in operation, eight more under construction and 78 on order. Of those in operation, 72 were publicly owned, one co-operatively, and five privately. The total capital expenditure from public funds so far is £1,100,000.
