HC Deb 01 April 1953 vol 513 c147W
6. Mr. S. O. Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will propose to the Security Council that a scientific investigation be made under the auspices of the United Nations Organisation into the charges made by officers of the United Nations Forces, now prisoners of war in North Korea, that germ warfare had been carried out against the North Koreans and Chinese.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

The hon. Member will now be aware that since he put down his Question Her Majesty's Government, together with the United States Government and 14 other Governments, have tabled a resolution in the United Nations, proposing the appointment of a United Nations Commission to investigate the Communist charges that the United Nations Forces in Korea have used bacteriological warfare. The resolution calls upon the Governments and authorities concerned to enable the Commission to examine any witnesses, including prisoners of war.
