§ 49. Sir H. Williamsasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what advantage accrues to this country from the expenditure of £181,830 on the United Kingdom Treasury and Supply Delegation in the United States of America.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThe Mission maintains continuous contact with the United States authorities on the whole range of our financial, economic and trading relations with the United States of America, and has special responsibilities in relation to the Mutual Security Programme and the procurement for the Ministry of Supply of certain types of machinery and equipment. It also acts as a paying agent for certain other Government Departments in respect of bulk contracts placed by those Departments for supplies originating in the United States of America.
