asked the President of the Board of Trade what additional industrial help he has been able to give to areas covered by the Accrington division to assist in meeting unemployment and short-time working.

As the hon. Member knows from the statements of Ministers in the House, Her Majesty's Government have taken various measures to help the textile areas, from which the Accrington division, among other areas, has benefited.

I am glad to say that since June unemployment in the Accrington division has fallen substantially.
