§ Mr. Sparksasked the Minister of Labour if he will take steps to exempt from National Service railwaymen occupying key positions in the service.

MoncktonI cannot exempt anyone from his liability under the National Service Acts but if, as I assume, the suggestion is that the call-up of certain men employed on the railways should be deferred so long as they remain on this work. I could not in present circumstances agree to any further arrangements of this kind.
