§ 97. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of National Insurance whether he will amend the Regulations relating to death benefits to enable parents or guardians of children who die under 21 years of age to claim this benefit when on account of illness or accident no contributions have been paid.
§ Mr. PeakeI am prepared to look into this question in connection with the forthcoming review. But it would be inconsistent with the general principles of the Insurance Scheme to enable parents to claim benefits in respect of a child who has passed the age when for purposes of insurance it can be treated as a dependent child.
