Brigadier Medlicottasked the Minister of Health if his attention has been drawn to the increase in the number of people suffering from stomach ulceration; and if he will make a statement as to what special researches are being undertaken with a view to discovering the reason for the increase in the incidence of this ailment.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe evidence seems to be that the incidence of all forms of peptic ulcer has not increased recently and that of stomach ulceration is decreasing. Deaths from peptic ulceration have decreased in recent years. Research into causes and treatment is in progress in many centres.
