§ 110. Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Education if, in accord with Government policy of conserving useful agricultural land, she will advise local education authorities to use common land for school playing fields where possible.
§ Miss HorsbrughIn present circumstances I do not normally sanction the acquisition of playing fields for existing schools, and local education authorities naturally make use where necessary of public playing fields which are accessible to schools. The use of common land comes within the jurisdiction of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and is subject, I understand, to legal restrictions.
