asked the Minister of Food the number of cattle purchased at Northern Ireland grading centres; the number of such cattle retained for consumption in Northern Ireland; and the number imported into Britain.

During the current period 29th December, 1951, to 7th November, 1952, 238,933 fat cattle were purchased in Northern Ireland. Of these 168,409 were shipped to Great Britain and 70,524 were retained for slaughter in Northern Ireland.

The last mentioned figure includes 67 cattle killed in Belfast for subsequent shipment to Great Britain in carcase form.
