§ Mr. J. StuartThe latest date to which statistics are available is 30th September Twenty-two schools had at that date been begun this year. Nine which were begun before November, 1951, have been completed and have provided 3,320 places.
§ Mr. Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many additional school places he expects to provide in schools begun this year; and how far this provision will keep pace with the number of places required.
§ Mr. J. StuartAbout 16,400. The average number of places to be provided each year from 1953 to 1956 is, however expected to be about 25,000. We believe this will meet the demand arising in the years.
