§ 68. Mr. K. Thompsonasked the President of the Board of Trade what recent official proposals have been made to Brazil with the purpose of securing a settlement of that country's indebtedness to British exporters.
§ Mr. MackesonAs my right hon. Friend has already explained to the House in answer to Questions on 13th November, the difficult situation which has been reached in Anglo-Brazilian trade is causing Her Majesty's Government considerable anxiety and is engaging our constant attention. No official proposals have been submitted to the Government of Brazil, but there have been discussions between Her Majesty's Ambassador in Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Minister of Finance on this difficult problem. I am not, however, in a position to make any further statement at present.
