§ 72. Mr. Errollasked the Minister of Agriculture why he is spending this year £400,000 on bringing land under the Agriculture Act, 1947, as compared with £270,000 in 1951–52.
§ Sir T. DugdaleThe increase in estimated expenditure this year over last year arises mainly from earlier decisions under Section 85 of the Act to purchase requisitioned land so as to secure or maintain its full and efficient use for agriculture. The balance of the expenditure relates to land acquired for experimental purposes and miscellaneous purchases. Actual expenditure in 1951–52 was less than estimated, and this may be true for the current year.
