(A) Industrial raw materials

(i) Reversion of Imports from Government Account to private trade

Material

Softwood: January, 1952. From all sources, (in 1951 the Timber Control were responsible for purchases in North America and certain other sources.)

Fertiliser materials: July, 1952.

Raw Cotton: September, 1952. Private imports re-started on consignment and on behalf of spinners who elect to "opt-out" in preference to buying from Raw Cotton Commission.

Lead: October, 1952. Dealings on London Metal Exchange re-started.

Zinc: January, 1953. Official announcement made of forthcoming reversion to private trade and resumption of dealings on London Metal Exchange by end of year.

(ii) Removal of maximum Price Control

Wallpapers and wrapping papers: February, 1952.

Remelted lead and lead scrap: February, 1952. Spiegeleisen: February, 1952.

Some minor types of wire production: February, 1952.

Jute yarn: April, 1952.

Kraft liner fluting: April, 1952.

Remelted zinc, zinc alloy, zinc and gun-metal scrap: June, 1952.

Domestic sheep and lamb pelts: July, 1952.

Newsprint: August, 1952.

Mechanical printing papers: August, 1952.

Blast Furnace Ferro-Manganese: August, 1952.

Rainwater and soil goods: August, 1952.

Aluminium and aluminium alloy scrap: November, 1952.

(iii) Relaxation of Control over Acquisition, Use or Disposal

Flax seed: February, 1952. All control removed.

Cedar for pencils: March, 1952. Acquisition, supply and use freed.

Plywood: April, 1952. Consumption control removed.

Used jute bags: June, 1952. Acquisition, use and disposal freed.

Woodpulp: June, 1952. Restrictions on use for making certain specified sorts of paper withdrawn.

Teak: July 1952. Acquisition, supply, use and consumption freed.

Ferro-Manganese: July, 1952. Acquisition, use and disposal freed.

Spiegeleisen: July, 1952. Acquisition, use and disposal freed.

Large springs: July, 1952. Acquisition, use and disposal freed. (Controlled from February, 1952.)

Newsprint: August, 1952. Tonnage rationing replaced by new agreement defining average size of newspaper.

Zinc: August, 1952. Control over end uses removed.

Jute goods: September, 1952. End use control abolished.

Raw Jute: September, 1952. Dealings abroad for delivery outside the United Kingdom freed.

Sisal and other hard hemps (except manila hemp and True hemp): October, 1952. Control of consumption removed.

Zinc: October. 1952. Acquisition control over secondary unwrought zinc, zinc scrap and residues removed.

Copper: October, 1952. Acquisition control over scrap removed.

(B) Nutritional raw materials

(i) Reversion of imports from Government Account to private trade

Illipe nuts and oil: February, 1952.

Sugar for refilling for export to certain hard currency destinations: October, 1952. Private imports resumed front the dollar area under licence.

Linseed and Linseed oil: January, 1953. Official announcement made in September last of forthcoming reversion to private trade under licence from all sources.

(ii) Removal of maximum Price Control

Maize starch, farina and dextrine derived from them: September, 1952.

(iii) Relaxation of Control over Acquisition, Use or Disposal

Illipe nuts and oil: February, 1952. Control over acquisition and use abolished.
