§ 66. Mr. R. Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for War the reasons for the withdrawal of the British garrison from Bermuda; and what alternative steps are being taken to maintain the defences of this area.
§ Mr. HeadThe main duty of the small British Garrison of 154 officers and men was to assist in the local defence of Bermuda and it is considered that this responsibility can now be undertaken by the Bermuda local forces. About six men will remain there to help in the training of this local force.
