Mr. BraithwaitePreliminary soil surveys, trial soundings and borings were completed in 1949 and the National Physical Laboratory have now finished their investigations. The preparation of the contract drawings will shortly be put in hand, but it is unlikely that work on this expensive project can begin for a number of years.
