HC Deb 12 November 1952 vol 507 c56W
71. Mr. D. Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what salary is being offered for the post of radiologist at Georgetown, British Guiana; how the salary compares with similar positions in this country; and whether, in the light of the inability to attract suitable applicants, he will consider taking steps to increase the salary offered.

Mr. Lyttelton

The salary offered is £1,150 to £1,350, plus certain consultation fees and allowances. In this country, where taxation is, of course, higher, the salary of a radiologist in the grade of senior house medical officer is £1,250 to £1,750.

The Government of British Guiana has under consideration a proposal to increase the pay of specialists.
