Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the apprehension felt by all the citizens of St. Lucia in the Windward Islands at the rapid silting up of the harbour of Castries, and the fear that it will soon become unusable for shipping; and what steps he is taking to make available the necessary funds to have this important harbour properly dredged.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe silting is not yet a threat to shipping, but the bed of the harbour has been surveyed. The Governor is now considering what action should be taken.
