§ The Attorney-GeneralAbout 71 per cent. of those receiving legal aid last year were seeking divorce. The total expenditure under the legal aid scheme in England and Wales last year was £1,167,326, of which £211,465 came from public funds. These figures are provisional and subject to audit and no statistics are available to show how much was spent on those seeking divorce.
