§ 77. Mr. Gibsonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many houses and flats have been de-requisitioned during this year; and whether, in view of the continuing shortage of housing accommodation, he will discourage local housing authorities from derequisitioning houses and flats which they control.
§ Mr. Marples1,446 houses and flats were released from requisitioning between 1st January and 30th April, 1952, as compared with 1,220 for the same period last year. Houses which are derequisitioned remain available for occupation. Where a local authority desire to retain control for the discharge of their housing duties, it is open to them to make use of their powers for acquisition under the Housing Acts.
